Training your pet(Android): Part 2- Voice Commands

So here is the magic trick to control your Android with voice.
But before you begin, make sure your Android fulfils following requirements-
  • Android version 4.1(Jelly Bean) or above
  • Internet Connection.

You need Google Now application to use this feature.
If you can see it on home button long press-> you already have it.
OR
you can download Google Now Launcher here.

Now Follow these steps-
  • Goto Google Settings->Search and Now->Search language->(choose your search language)
  • Goto Google Settings->Search and now->Voice->Languages->(long press to choose your search language that you speak) NOTE: to use voice commands you need to choose English(country [ex.-India]) here.
  • Goto Google Settings->Search and now->Voice->"Ok Google" detection->(enable this feature so that you don't need to touch mic every time before you start giving commands.)

Now you will see google search box with mic on your home screen or long press home button.

For Normal Search-
  • Say "Ok Google" (if your language is supported) OR tap the mic, it will start listening to whatever you say.
  • Say whatever you want to search on the Internet. (ex.- Who is Prime Minister of India)
For Voice Commands-
  • Say "Ok Google" (if your language is supported) OR tap the mic, it will start listening to whatever you say.
  • For list of commands, Say- "What can i say", it will show help for commands.
